When customers come across a new website, there are always some lingering questions about the legitimacy of the site. Customers can usually check if a website is legit or not on ScamAdviser.
When plibean.com appeared as one of the most searched sites on ScamAdviser, I decided to do a deep dive. I wanted to analyze the site and see if the online store is legit or not. Let’s find out, shall we?
When were they started?
Usually, the start date of any website is very important as older sites are easy to trust while newer sites face an uphill task of convincing customers to trust them. Since this is the case, most dubious websites try to appear older than they are.
On the About Us page, plibean.com says they started in 2018.
But on the Whois page, it shows that plibean.com was started in 2021.
Why would a legit site inflate their start date?
The contact information
The way a website let’s you contact them says a lot about the site. Plibean.com provides the email ID plibean@outlook.com. However, that is a free email account which is hardly used by professional stores. Anyone can open an Outlook email account and it does very little to win the confidence of customers.
They have also listed a number, +1 (689) 247-8616 as their contact number. However, according toTruecaller, the number is registered in Florida while the company claims to be based in Illinois.
Where are they located?
On the website, Plibean claims to be located on the 74th Street unit 1, Chicago, IL 60619, US.
But when I tried searching for the same on Google Maps, there was no indication of Plibean anywhere.
Customer reviews
Most customers will leave a review of their experience with the site. The review is usually a great insight of what new customers can expect from the website.With plibean.com, there are not many customer reviews and the only place I could find the reviews was on ScamAdviser.
Most of the customers are complaining of unresponsive customer support and there is a customer who claims not to have received their product after making the payment.
The return policy
On the home page, the site clearly states that the returns are free with customers told they will have a hassle-free experience.
However on the return page, the site claims that customers are responsible for the return shippin costs. This is a common trick used by scammers to make life difficult for customers wishing to return products.
Bottom Line
Overall, plibean.com appears to have a lot of red flags and unanswered question. Why are they using an outlook email rather than a professional email? Where exactly are they located and why are the using an out-of-state number?
The bottom line is, there are a lot of characteristics that overlap with what we see with other scams. Based on the available customer reviews, potential customers should brace for longer waiting period and a complex return process. Caution should be exercised while dealing with plibean.com.
