England-electrocom claims to be selling various kinds of electronics such as phones, televisions, laptops and even home appliances. The website was created in November 2020 and is being operated anonymously. It has an Alexa Rank slightly over a million, which shows that it is not very popular compared to other sites.
The website appears to be of very low quality and severely outdated. For example, one of the home page banners talks about the ‘New iPhone 7’ even though the model came out in 2016.
The prices on the website are hard to believe too. A brand-new iPhone 7 is supposedly being sold for just £239.20, even though used models of the same phone cost more than £300 on Amazon UK.
The most astonishing thing about England-electrocom is that they claim to have the PS5 in stock. What’s more, they are claiming to sell it at less than retail price at a time when the console is out of stock everywhere and being sold at inflated prices by scalpers. High-demand products being sold at cheap prices is often the most obvious sign of a scam.
The rest of the website too has several strange things going on. Though the domain registration data clearly shows that it is impossible for the site to have existed before November 2020, the website footer implies that the site has been active since 2019. There is also a reference to ‘Technostore’ that makes no sense as it is not mentioned anywhere else.
The website claims to be of English origin. However, certain sections of the website are randomly in French. This might indicate that the website is actually operated from France.
