When a website is among the most searched sites on ScamAdviser, we are compelled to take a deep dive. In this review, we are analyzing everything to do with dow1s.com which has been among the most sort after sites on ScamAdviser.
Dow1s.com is a “Downloader that helps you save Youtube videos to your device. You can choose from a variety of formats and qualities to download.” Is this true and are they a legit platform or scam site?
How Does Dow1s.com Work?
According to the site, users need to paste the URL of the video they want to download and the site will do the rest. The site claims they “can easily convert Youtube videos to MP3, MP4, 3GP, WEBM, M4A files... and download them for free”
I tried downloading a Youtube Video from the site and it seems to work just fine. They even ask which format you want your video in which is a nice touch.
When Were They Registered?
According to a statement I found on their homepage, they claim to have been “First published in 2020”. However, when I looked up the site on ScamAdviser and Whois.com, I was shocked to see the domain was registered in December 2022.
This is a common trick with scammers who are desperate to sound older as they know the older a site is, the more trustworthy it will appear.

When I tried searching for a phrase I found on the home page, I was surprised to see it appear on different websites. When I searched for this phrase; Downloader helps you save Youtube videos to your device. You can choose from a variety of formats and qualities to download. It appeared on many other websites.
Some, like YT1s.com, even have the same outlook and design as Dow1s.com. This could indicate they are part of a larger syndicate of dubious websites that re-use content across different sites.
The Blank Pages
It's not often to see many legit sites with blank web pages. With Dow1s.com, I noticed several pages that are suspiciously empty. At the bottom of the page, they list the following pages;
- Contact us
- Privacy Policy
- Terms of service
However, when I tried clicking on each of them, they only lead to the home page. This is highly suspicious as the site seems to be operating without a Privacy Policy which could be dangerous to users. Without this or the terms of use, there is no telling what they can or cannot do with your information.
Bottom Line
Overall, there are a lot of characteristics that make Dow1s.com highly suspicious. They are exaggerating their registration date, which is never a good sign. The content is duplicated across multiple websites which could indicate that they are part of a larger syndicate. There are a few blank pages and the lack of a Privacy Policy and Terms of Service does not help build an already fragile user confidence.
Users should exercise caution when dealing with Dow1s.com. There are a lot of suspicious elements on the website.
