Utility Scams

Scammers will reach you through a telephone call or by knocking on your front door claiming to be from the gas, water or electricity company. They will claim either your payment is overdue and that will cause your electricity to shut off immediately, or that there is a problem in your system and that it needs to be repaired because if not it could entail a danger for you. Scared by this, the scammer will get in your house and steal your valuables or obtain your personal information to switch you to another fake provider without your consent.
